About Us
Sohum Shah Films is a young production house based in Mumbai, India. SSF was conceptualized with a desire to bring original stories that engage and entertain both the local and global audience. Our focus is on quality, craftsmanship and ambition, which is reflected in everything we have done so far and intend to be committed to it in future too. We believe that one needs the creative freedom for a film to evolve and grow, and we’re willing to take it slow and steady.

SOHUM SHAH
Coming from a little town of Sri Ganga Nagar in Rajasthan, India, Sohum Shah has established himself as a young dynamic producer and actor in India. He produced and acted in the critically acclaimed Ship of Theseus (TIFF 2012, BFI 2012 Sutherland Jury Special Mention, Dubai 2012). The film won the Best Film and Best Cinematography awards at Munich and Transylvania. It also won him the Golden Lotus Award from the President of India at the Indian National Awards in 2014- India’s equivalent of Oscars for Best Picture. Sohum came on board as the Indian presenter and distributor of the award-winning documentary Gulabi Gang (2013) produced by Piraya Films and Final Cut for Real, which won two top prizes at the 61st National Film Awards. He has also produced the critically acclaimed short on acid victims, Newborns (2014). As an actor, Sohum has been lauded for his portrayal in Ship of Theseus (TIFF 2012), Vishal Bhardwaj’s Talvar (Guilty) (TIFF 2015) and Simran (2017). He plays the lead in the period fantasy thriller, Tumbbad.
MUKESH SHAH
Mukesh Shah is a veteran successful businessman with a keen interest in arts and cinema. He has an active role in securing necessary funds for films like Ship of Theseus and Tumbbad. Along with Sohum Shah, Mr. Mukesh Shah is credited for establishing Sohum Shah Films for producing innovating and entertaining content for both home and global audience.
AMITA SHAH
Amita Shah is one of the partners with Sohum Shah Films. She is handling investment and movie financing within the organization. Prior to this, she was a partner and producer at Recyclewala Films where she raised funds for Ship of Theseus through private equity. She is now actively seeking involvement in developing upcoming feature projects for Sohum Shah Films.
ADESH PRASAD
Adesh Prasad joined the team of Tumbbad in 2013 as a co-producer, co-writer and co-director. He runs Sohum Shah Films along with Producer-Actor Sohum Shah and serves as a producer and creative head of the company. He is currently writing his next feature, while developing future projects for Sohum Shah Films.
His debut film Tumbbad was the first Indian film to open the prestigious Venice Critics Week section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival and was awarded the Best Film in CinemAsia 2019 and Screamfest Horror Film Fest, USA. Tumbbad also earned him Best Director (Focus Asia Section) award at Sitges Film Festival’18 and nomination as Best Director across major awards like Filmfare Awards’19, Critics Choice Film Awards’19 and as Best Debutant Director in Jio Screen Awards’19 and Zee Cine Award’19. He was chosen as one of the 25 prime innovators in entertainment who have shaken up things and ignited conversations in 2019 by Film Companion.
He has earlier worked as a writer for NDTV, Miditech, and the Indian version of Sesame Street and has assisted filmmakers like Dibakar Banerjee, Saurabh Shukla and Rajat Kapoor.
ANKIT JAIN
Ankit Jain joined Sohum Shah Films as a co-producer in 2022. He’s wrapped up shoot for a very exciting project, starring Sohum Shah, written and directed by Girish Kohli.
Ankit comes from a business family based in Kolkata & Hyderabad, but his passion for cinema brought him to Mumbai at the age of 20.
He started his career as an assistant director to Mr. Sunil Darshan back in 2005. He did several projects with Mr. Darshan before teaming up with Mr. Subhash Kapoor in 2007. By 2010, he initiated and executing the critically acclaimed film ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’, directed by Mr. Kapoor.
In 2019, with ‘Kora kagaaz’, starring Rajat Kapoor, Ankit decided to try his hand at production. He’s since been responsible for executing the two seasons of SonyLiv’s successful show Maharani as a Supervising Producer.
MILIND SURVE
Milind Surve has more than 15 years of experience in accounts and finance working with us for 10 years. He is currently the Head of accounts in Sohum Shah Films.
He is the accounts manager of our company. He manages the finances and ensures compliance with tax laws and company laws and maintains the cash flow of the company. He is responsible for preparing the budget, and cost sheet of various assignments.
He handles customer complaints, finds solutions to their issues, and maintains a positive relationship between both parties for future business ventures.
He has also had wide exposure of 5yrs working as an Auditor with NBS & Co, CA firm.
FIROZ KHAN
Firoz Khan joined Sohum Shah Films as a Post Supervisor in 2022. He is Born and brought up in Mayanagri Mumbai. He started his career in Editing in 2006. In 2009 he entered in Post Production with Quick Gun Murgan Film.
His Past Projects as a Post Supervisior were for two Netflix Original Films House Arrest starring 'Ali Fazal & Jim Sarbh' & Plan A Plan B starring 'Ritesh Deshmukh, Tamannah Bhatia.
He is also a well known editor for "Thanks Maa" directed by Irfan Kamal.
RAFEEK ADEEL AHMED
Rafeek Adeel Ahmed joined Sohum Shah Films in 2021 as a Post Production Coordinator. He belongs from Uttar Pradesh, He moved to Mumbai and started his career as a post production assistant in 2007 for the film 'Dus Kahaniyaan'.
He worked as a post production assistant in Films like'Rakta Charitra' (2010) and 'Ready' (2011). He began his journey as a post production coordinator with the film 'Maatr' in 2017 and in 2022, he has also been a Post Production Supervisor for the film 'Attack'.
SRUSHTI PANAYAM
Srushti Panayam joined Sohum Shah Films in 2022 as an Assistant Producer . She Embarked on her career calling with Radio Mirchi ( Times of India) as a Creative Producer at the age of 20 in 2018-2019. She was a part of and successfully handled two major celebrity and award winning shows - season 1 of 'What Women Want' featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and season 2 of 'Calling Karan' featuring Karan Johar, besides some other projects before moving on to further hone skills.
Year 2021 saw her team up with the production house 'Kangra Talkies' helmed by Mr. Subhash Kapoor of 'Jolly LLB' fame. Here she worked on the critically acclaimed intense political OTT drama 'Maharani' season 2 featuring Sohum Shah and Huma Qureshi in lead roles besides other distinguished actors and directed by Ravindra Gautam.
Further pursuing her strong career aspirations, she is now in her current position, just having completed a successful project on a very exciting feature film, due for a theatrical release soon.
SAUMYA CHANDRA SRIVASTAVA
Saumya Srivastava joined Sohum Shah Films in 2022 as an Assitant to Adesh Prasad .
She started as a Production Intern for the feature "Pagglait", did couple of Ads for Tanishq, Swiggy as their Production co-ordinator and just finished up a Web Series for Hotstar India, where she was working as a Production Assistant.
As of now she is involved into the Post-Production For Adesh's Upcoming Project.
NILAY MAJUMDER
Nilay Majumder began working in Creatives for Sohum Shah Films in 2022. He graduated from NIT with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, but his obsession with cinema led him to Mumbai shortly after.
He began his career as an assistant director at Chrome Pictures, assisting directors like Amit Sharma and Hemant Bhandari. He also worked as an assistant director for Shoojit Sircar at Rising Sun Films. Apart from assisting, he worked as a copywriter at Water Communications. He wrote and directed 'DAAL MEIN KUCH KAALA HAI' (2020), which was labeled 'Short Film of the Day' by shorted.in and was officially selected as the best short film in the 'Lift-off Global Network First Time Filmmaker Sessions 2022."
